Elizabeth Taylor Passes Away

An American Icon

Elizabeth Taylor died this morning at the age of 79. Tumultuous past aside, Taylor is an icon of American Pop Culture. She provided entertainment to generations of Americans and her accomplishments should be celebrated. Taylor inspired thousands of actors and actresses to pursue their dreams. Though many would argue that entertainment is just that, movies, singing, dancing, and other art forms are a part of the social fabric that holds our great country together. Though we do not need to universally love her work, it is important for immigrant communities to understand and respect our country’s history and way of life. Though we respect individual cultures, it is more important for us to put the greatest emphasis on our Americanness.
